• Remember the story on Tuesday about the group taking over the Trump Links golf course in the Bronx? Well, forget it because CORE Services Group, led by the CEO of a homeless shelter operator, has pulled out of the deal. The new operator appears to be Bobby Jones Links, a company out of Atlanta. • Aladdin is the first Broadway show to cancel a performance due to Covid-19 breakout cases amongst the company. The performance was canceled 30 minutes before curtain, which was also one day after the show reopened. (Ben Yakas for Gothamist)
• Curbed makes the case that it's time to let the Elizabeth Street Garden go, with the city ordering the garden vacated by the end of October. The first has been going since 2012 and the city has plans to build affordable senior housing at that location. (Kim Velsey for Curbed)
• A data leak appears to have named multiple active NYPD officers that are members of the Oath Keepers, the far-right militia that was heavily involved in the January 6 insurrection. The Gothamist report names names and ranks within the NYPD. (George Joseph and Micah Loewinger for Gothamist)
• The NYPD is hiring "greeters," like they were Walmart, whose sole job will be to "address everyone in a timely and courteous manner." There will be a greeter in each precinct in November. While the NYPD and the mayor are pushing this as a community service play, I see this as a way for the NYPD to shield themselves from having to interact with the public as much as possible. • Dr. Mary Bassett, the former commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene from 2014 - 2018, was appointed as the next Commissioner of the Department of Health of New York State. (Ben Yakas for Gothamist)
• When asked why he didn't speak to a single guard or inmate during his first visit to Rikers Island in four years, Mayor de Blasio said "I don't need to be reminded of something I already know." You'd think if he already knew that we wouldn't be in this situation, right? (Matt Troutman for Patch)
• Not mentioned by Mayor de Blasio was that when he was taking his tour of Rikers on Monday, 1,200 people on the island were under a Covid-19 quarantine due to a staff shortage that prevented proper monitoring of newly-arrived detainees. As of Wednesday, more than 20% of the 6,000 people in the complex were under quarantine for "likely exposure." That's up for 1% in July. Only 48% of the Department of Corrections have received at least one dose of the vaccine. (Jake Offenhartz for Gothamist)

• How is it possible that Kyrie Irving can't play home games because he's unvaccinated but an actual moron Joe Rogan can play MSG to a crowd of slack-jawed mouth breathers without any concern to disclose his vaccination status?
