Central Park's Lasker pool and ice skating rink will close in 2020 for three years while it gets a $150 million renovation. The Second Avenue subway did not alleviate overcrowding on the Upper East Side trains. A better investment would have been upgrading the 4/5/6 line. During the average weekday rush hour in June and July of 2017, 57 scheduled trains did not run, and those trains alone could handle the current ridership of the Second Avenue subway.
